With a title like “A Game About Digging A Hole” I can honestly say I wasn’t expecting a ton going into this game. However I was pleasantly surprised with this game. It being all about digging down into the backyard of your suburban home to find what’s in store for you.

The game loop is pretty simple, dig into the ground until you find certain materials. But what makes it interesting is you have to combat with a battery pack for your shovel. And limited bag space to carry items. Once you’ve got some items you can take them back into the garage to sell for money. You then spend on upgrades for your shovel, inventory, etc.

The deeper you dig below the earth the more things you find. Sometimes you’ll find hidden corridors with chests of goodies. Sometimes you’ll find big rocks you have to use dynamite to blow up. You can even find huge tunnels that you didn’t dig out.

Unfortunately the game is relatively short, I was able to finish the game in a couple hours of playtime. I could definitely see developers adding more game types or objectives down the line.down the line. I mean the game just came out on the 7th of February.

I’d easily give the A Game About Digging A Hole an 8.5/10, the gameplay loop is pretty solid. The ending was pretty solid. I could definitely relax and play the game for fun again. Just to see if I missed anything the first time around, because I’m sure I did.
