Xrio Presents: BlenderStart here
I have a small background in art. I never managed to get myself off the ground, a lot of disbelief for the future. My age was probably a heavy impact on a poor decision not to chase the dream all the way through. Over the years, I have managed to explore some options. One of them was 3D modeling. There are plenty of programs that offer 3D model designing.
First suggestions mentioned outside of educational backgrounds. Is Blender, and if you know or don’t know, it can all start with a donut. In my experience it’s a known joke now about this tutorial that starts you off with making a donut. I’ve struggled once or twice before making an edible looking success. This is a very common suggested start. I think it now has some potential competition. The tutorial isn’t difficult and the person who handles it, does a great job in helping you get a decent start with Blender, along with updating each update milestone.Â
In the blue corner, we now have Xrio who’s giving gamers a chance at exploring and enjoying the learning and discoveries of Blender techniques. I came across this game some months ago. I’m no wizard of Blender, and regardless of managing a donut. I instantly added it to my Steam wishlist. I got the notice they’ve released a demo. It has just 2 levels available. It’s charming, with some cute children book style intro. The open world setting, it’s not gonna win any game awards. It does what is needed, and that’s a sense of gaming.
You start out as a pigeon; all your forest friends have been kidnapped. You meet Suzzane, who is a 3D model mascot within Blender. You’ll be given the information on what’s happened to you and the forest. It was all Dube, the default cube 3D model. You get directions on how to maneuver through the Blender UI. I mentioned 2 levels, but there are 3. The third is just a small access to fool around on the model of the outside world you’re venturing through. It’s not as fleshed out as an actual progressing level yet.Â
Within this demo, there are two key interests. First, by chance any Blender enthusiast try the demo. They’re given a chance at filing for a chance to become one of the creator cards. I’ll include that here, in case you don’t manage to try out the demo. It’s a little awkward, as the video and audio don’t match up very well. I think it’s encouraging for Blender creators though. Just as the donut, there are many others who do tutorial work on different projects. I hope that it’ll reach a good range of them.
The method on obtaining collectable cards is not clear at the moment. It’s just one of the first mentionings after completing the first level. The second level, once completed. Gives you a thank you message. Practically the end of the demo that also encourages you to check out the Kickstarter. Which has already ended and succeeded past the initial goal. It has a good presence of Xrio, interviews, information in remarks to the games future.
I think this is a perfect option for those that seek to get some experience in 3D modeling. I wouldn’t not skip out on the donut option. This is just an exciting start in a different direction. I hope it becomes a staple in young audiences for educational purposes. I think it’ll be a great chance for many to find some more easy hands-on learning experience. Expect to be able to get this in 2025. It’ll be available through steam. Give the demo a chance.
