Borderlands 4 – What’s up with that?!

I’m gonna start with Borderlands 3. We have a comparison. I love the Borderlands series. The movie was a miss for me, I liked it, mainly for the perfect scenery. I think the world and background were on point. It had its laughs. I’ll leave it at that. With Borderlands 3, I remember being skeptical. Where it left us off, I knew we’d have to move on further. Which was rough, and I don’t think from the start I had much interest in the new hunters. When I was able to experience what each had to offer. The story changed. They all played out differently and brought some new styles in addition to the guns.

I have that same feeling about Borderlands 4’s new set of hunters. The brief examples of what each new hunter brings to the table. It doesn’t seem all that different from the previous ones. Our first tease barely showcases some of them. The latest was revealed at Sony’s State of Play. We got the official launch date video. I’m still not sold, it only intensified my fears. It’s safe to say it’s a Borderlands game. We get a showcase of in-game action. Each character sprints off a good bit of what they offer.

I won’t lie, a strong disappointing feeling halfway through came over me. Another generic looter shooter. From that moment to writing this. Have we just been spoiled with them too much over the years? I was confused if I was seeing similar actions from other games now making it into the Borderland series. The grappling, at first glance, I thought was a feature for all hunters. It might be easier to assume that it’s probably one of the hunter’s side abilities.

Which leaves me to sit back and relax. Cause I know regardless of how these small factors concern me now. I’ll still play the game. I’m still gonna find a lot to enjoy through it. I’m sure there have to be some surprises that we’re all hoping to see. The guns to mess around with. The jokes. You’d be crazy not to give it a try. Am I just crazy to have concerns? How has everyone else felt about the recent reveals? Is anyone excited to see what the deluxe/collector editions might contain?
