Hobbies? Sure, I’ll get some fantastic pictures in New Pokémon Snap, or Plate Up!. It’s endless, but it doesn’t end there. We can also get ourselves some much needed attention. Here are some recommended dating sims, either to help you prepare for that Valentines date or incase you just didn’t find that one yet.

Doki Doki Literature Club!

Where to even begin? In my own opinion, I feel like this is where we were all reminded dating sims existed and that they don’t have to be exclusively 18+ featured games. If anything, it might’ve been the introduction of a genre many didn’t know existed. The setting your given is a common trope for anime’s. You the protagonist transfers schools in favor of your childhood friend. You join a club, meet a few friends. One thing leads to another.

With your decisions you’ll slowly grow closer to one of the members in the club. Without truly exposing the story, it’s got some very interesting outcomes. It doe’s well to be considered a dating sim, visual novel, and more. If your looking for more then just finding someone special, and want to experience an anime lifestyle. Check out the Doki Doki Literature Club! It’s free, and has an invested version(Doki Doki Literature Club Plus!). With some extra’s, worth the purchase if you want to add some extra features and different experience. If anything it’s a great way to support the creator. Don’t hold your breath for a sequel, the creator has already dismissed that option. Thankfully, the game has many fans support with mods that can change it up.

Hatoful Boyfriend

If you’ve got social anxiety, would it be helpful to imagine the person as someone they’re not? I don’t think that was the general idea for this. But it could be a good reason to give this a try. Doing my research, I was unaware that this game has had such a deep history. It started off as an April Fools gag, and it’s background is apart of a manga doujinshi group.

I know it’s gotten traction here and there, but I feel like it’s a reliable favorite for most. You the only human, just enrolled in a prestige school. Where everyone is a sapient bird. Starting it off your Freshmen year is off to a rough start. It has a lot of dating tropes to experience. I feel like it’s held true to it’s roots of making sure that it’s comically serious enough to make it light but wholesome visual novel. If you want something to ease yourself or a need to soften your approach give this game a try.

Stardew Valley

If definitive visual novels or pure dating sims are just not what your after. You need a little more something to keep your attention, but you also wouldn’t mind finding that someone special. Look no further, then Stardew Valley. You’ll have a plenty to do before you’ll get a chance let alone finding the right person that fits your desires. Some may already understand what to look forward to with this game. Others might expanded themselves to mods that make the process have extra procedures or even added additional options to meet someone who shares similar tastes to their own. This is also a perfect chance if you aren’t someone alone, or looking to include your significant other. It’s a perfect opportunity to plan the next step.

Persona 3 Reloaded

While not limited to just this title. A majority of the base Persona games offer a great JRPG experience. You can take a small break in-between the story and your free time. To meet characters that are either part of your team or just active support characters around the game. The series is well received for it’s compelling story and long supported characters throughout the entire franchise. It’s got a lot to offer other then just a side of dating sim. You can capture demons that’ll assist you on your adventure. Each story covers a different theme and style.

It has a strong background with a lot of the demons represented in the game are based on lore and have been used a lot throughout the Persona series, and it’s predecessors before such as the Shin Megami Tensei series. Out of all the recommendations so far, this is probably one of the least focused towards a dating sim. It’s a small feature, but it is there and it can be enjoyable to juggle or have a break from the many other features.

I Love You, Colonel Sanders! A Finger Lickin’ Good Dating Simulator

Just leaving this option here. I don’t even know what to say honestly. It’s free. It’s actually supported by KFC. If your that down and bad, waiting for your bucket to get to your door. Take your time and start trying to swoon your way up to the Colonel.

Happy Valentines day everyone.
